Promising Results in Stress Management for Tomato Crops in Extremadura, Spain

Recent trials of OMEX’s GARD MN ZN product have shown encouraging results in helping canning tomato plants cope with abiotic stresses in Extremadura, Spain. The treatment programme involved applications of 1 liter per hectare every 21 days, with only three treatments per season.

In one trial, a local farmer reported significant improvements in plant health and resilience, despite nematodes still being present on the roots. The farmer has been struggling with various crop stresses for years, but GARD MN ZN has been a game-changer. Not only was there a dramatic improvement in the plants’ ability to cope with nematodes, but his tomato plants are also more productive.

Luciano Gullutta, Export Technical Sales Manager at OMEX Agrifluids explains the science behind the product’s effectiveness: “Our innovative formulation works by enhancing the plant’s natural defense mechanisms. The unique combination of manganese and zinc, complexed with plant extracts from the Lilliaceae and Salicaceae family, strengthens cell walls and boosts the production of defensive compounds, making it easier for plants to tolerate the effects of stresses including nematodes.”

These trials suggest that GARD MN ZN could be a valuable tool for tomato growers dealing with various environmental stresses, potentially leading to healthier crops, improved yields, and enhanced root development. The product has shown particular promise in promoting root growth even in the presence of poor soil conditions.
